The Curse: (‘Aror’) “Removing the Influence of God” 3/12/21
Series Part 1 – An Introduction to Curses and their Origins
“We are born in sin and shaped in iniquity.” (Psalm 51:5)
Sin cannot be removed by man. By human effort. By ‘thinking good thoughts.’ Or by doing good deeds. Man, through Adam, has created our sin problem – and it will only be through the second and last Adam of Jesus Christ that we will find its final solution. Will we trust God for our deliverance and salvation?
Exactly where did curses come from?
The fallen nature of man has introduced the origins of “the curse” — the SEPARATION from the influence of God into Creation.
How does this happen?
We have inherited an ENEMY to mankind and to all of Creation. Satan is “the enemy of our souls.” (John 10:10)
SIN is Satan’s most powerful weapon against all of humanity and, yes, even the Believer and child of God. This is why it was necessary for Christ to come at the appointed time to remove the curse of sin — and attone for us by taking the penalty upon Himself. A DEATH penalty.
In order for this to be done a PERFECT SACRIFICE for our sins would have to be made to satisfy all the righteous requirements of the law, and of a ‘Holy and Righteous’ God. (John 3:16, in its full context)
We see that only Christ could accomplish this through His perfect obedience to the will and law of God.
This is also why Satan’s first diabolical weapon against humanity in the form of spiritual warfare is seduction to sin. (Genesis 3)
And, WHY? Because sin means SEPARATION from God that leads to eternal death and condemnation. Sin is the ’cause’ of all curses. Curses that have proceeded from the mouth of God Himself…
Hebrews 10:26-27 says:
Satan’s job is to get us out of POSITION (i.e., proper relationship) with God to, again, remove God’s influence and presence from our lives. This is the true curse of man, and this fallen world. To put mankind in an unprotected place where God’s covering is missing. True blessings of good health and soul prosperity vanquished. To make us an enemy of God- and to ourselves. To create masses of ‘self-inflicted’ victims to the consequences of sin: separation from God is death.
It is only the mercy of God and His Sovereign plan that saves us from the immediate penalty of destruction that the enemy is waiting to bring upon our lives. Let us tune in and hear more of the counsel of God…
