The People Are Afflicted: “The State of the Union for the Church” (Lamentations 1)

Jeremiah was a messenger and prophet who was called by God to speak a word of “great distress and trouble” against his own people. He is known as the ‘weeping prophet’ and experienced great personal anguish over the calamity he would not only “pronounce,” but have to live through and watch personally on God’s behalf.

Jeremiah was given the ultimate burden by God to deliver a sentence of divine judgment on the nation. What we must understand in today’s calendar is that we are back here again, just as the scriptures said we would be.
