Chag Sameach! (The case of Easter and Passover)

The Feast of Unleaved Bread – Day 1

“Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.” 1 Corinthians 5:7

For many of us around the world, Jew and Christian alike, tonight we are embracing (some for the first time) the opportunity to commune with and “welcome in” an essential part of our Biblical history and Christ-narrative!

May Christ’s true narrative story never end in our hearts and minds… for we are sealed by His Spirit and His blood until the Day of our Redemption – for we know it is drawing nigh. It is so much closer than when we first believed!

For some of our readers, this may be the first time you have ever really stopped to ask yourself about “the history” of what is commonly known as the “Easter Week.” However, putting tradition and religious agenda’s aside – Constantine and the early Roman church could not have done us as Believers a greater “disservice” than that of eclipsing the Passover story and true historical narrative with pagan ritual, “star worship,” and idolatry.

“Dear children keep yourselves from idols.” Amen. 1 John 5:21

For some of us, it has taken all of our lives, and for the modern church – its whole history to make a decision to “come out” of spiritual deception and embrace the Judaic and Hebraic roots of our faith. The “spiritual roots” are also cultural – and always important to the validity of the historical record and authenticity of who we are and how “we arrived” at our current place of faith. Even more, however, is the “ROOT ITSELF” of our faith, which is “Christ,” and Christ alone.

“And in that day there shall be a Root of Jesse, Who shall stand as a banner to the people; For the Gentiles shall seek Him, And His resting place shall be glorious.” Isaiah 11:10

He never separated Himself from his cultural or spiritual lineage, but instead strengthened and validated it through His “fulfillment.”

Passover and the Unleaved Bread. . . Yeshua Ha’Mashiach, Jesus Christ is our common history “and bread.”

God Himself institutes Passover as an “everlasting ordinance” for the children of Israel. (Exodus 12)

“So this day shall be to you a memorial; and you shall keep it as a feast to the Lord throughout your generations. You shall keep it as a feast by an everlasting ordinance. Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread.” -Exodus 12: 14-15

“In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at evening, you shall eat unleavened bread, until the twenty-first day of the month at evening. 19 For seven days no leaven shall be found in your houses, since whoever eats what is leavened, that same person shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he is a stranger or a native of the land. 20 You shall eat nothing leavened; in all your dwellings you shall eat unleavened bread.’ ” -Exodus 12: 18-20

History tells us that the Children of Israel were “hard-pressed” to get out of Egypt in a hurry after God sent his 10th and final Plague of judgment that killed all the firstborn in Egypt Passover night. Only God’s instructions and provision for divine covering would spare them from experiencing the same.

Israelites begin their first 7 days from Egypt. . .

. . .

“And they baked unleavened cakes of the dough which they had brought out of Egypt; for it was not leavened, because they were driven out of Egypt and could not wait, nor had they prepared provisions for themselves.” Exodus 12: 39

Join us tomorrow night for more on the “Feast of Unleavened bread.” –What actually happened – and why it’s important, especially now, in our current global crisis. God’s Standard and His “faithfulness to us” will never change! God bless you all.
